Moving out and not returning to campus for the Spring semester:

Residents who will not be returning to on-campus Housing for the Spring semester must be completely moved out by 12:00 p.m. on December 12th. Residents must complete moving out by this time to avoid an improper checkout fee of $150 and lock changing fees.

  • Remove all items and clean your room.
  • Full Service Move-Out is available from December 6th until December 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m each day. Visit the front desk within that time frame and a staff member will inspect your space with you. Please note that you must be fully moved out and ready to turn your keys in at this time.
  • You may also opt to complete an Express Move-Out. By doing this you waive the right to appeal any housing damage and lock change fees. To complete an Express Move-Out please visit the front desk at any time. Please note that you must be fully moved out and ready to turn your keys in at this time.
  • On December 12th only the Express Move-Out option will be available.

Residents will not lose access to their building during Winter Break. While on Winter Break, please remember to use the address you are currently staying at for packages and food deliveries as your residence hall address might be set as your default.

If I'm leaving for Winter Break, what do I need to do before I leave?

Prior to leaving for break you are responsible for reviewing the items on the Residence Hall Winter Break checklist posted on Residence Hall bulletin boards. This will also be shared by your Resident Assistant. Some of the important items to note include:

  • Clean & Defrost your refrigerator if you live in an apartment, discard your food in the refrigerator when you leave for break or move-out if you are not returning.
  • Remove all food and trash from the living space.
  • Clean your restroom.

If I am not returning for the Spring semester, what happens if I do not move out of the building by December 12?

The fee will be added to your student account. Make sure you check your student account and pay any improper check out fees, damage fees, and lock changes due to lost keys.

What should I do to prepare for move out?

If you are not returning for the Spring semester:

  • Remove all items from your room space and shared community areas.
  • Schedule your Fall move-out appointment with your RA by December 11.
  • If you opt to complete an Express check out form instead of having your room checked, you waive the right to appeal any housing damage and lock change fees.
  • If you complete an Express check out form place your room and mailbox key in the Express check out envelope to avoid being charged for a lock change.
What do I do to avoid getting charged for cleaning?

Work with your roommates/suitemates to fill out a Roommate/Suitemate Agreement, these are available in the Housing portal. Please read the Agreement carefully, as ALL those living in the room must agree and sign the form. Also, we encourage students to leave their spaces cleaner than they found them.
